After a 30-6 drubbing of the Reedley Pirates last week at Memorial Stadium, the Madera Coyotes will take to their first road game of the season against the Paso Robles Bearcats on Friday in the start of a month-long schedule away from home.
Madera head coach Bonner Cunnings said the game would prove important as his team gets used to playing on the road, particularly with two long road trips both to Paso Robles and Oakland later this year.
“This is going to be a very good matchup,” Cunnings said. “It’s a big preparation week because our boys are going to be tested for the next four weeks on the road so we’ve got to get good at playing on hostile turf.”
The Coyotes (1-1) and Bearcats (1-1) met last season in a game that Paso Robles dominated 42-26 largely on the ground behind Colton Madrigal, an eventual Division I college recruit who racked up 199 yards and four scores on 37 touches...
