After starting off the County/Metro Athletic Conference season with two tough losses, the Madera baseball team has won back-to-back games to even its league record.
Trailing conference leaders San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno and Sanger by one game in the standings, the Coyotes (11-5) improved to 2-2 in the CMAC after handing the defending league champion Bullard-Fresno (4-11, 1-3) a 6-1 defeat on a breezy Tuesday afternoon on Mel Parker Field.
The defending Div. II champ Coyotes earned their first league win of the season after defeating Edison-Fresno 5-1 on Friday while the Chad Thornill-coached Knights came into the game struggling after finishing 14-1 in the CMAC last season and winning the Div. I championship the previous year.
In Madera’s last home outing, the Coyotes finished with a mere three hits in a 7-1 loss to Sanger on March 18 but against the Knights, the Coyotes looked like the team that frustrated numerous pitchers early in the season...
