In the 14th Annual Central-Fresno Baseball Classic, the Madera and Madera South teams officially opened their seasons at home but with different results.

The Coyotes were able to grind out a 3-2 win over Golden Valley-Merced at Mel Parker Field on Tuesday while the Stallions dropped a 2-0 decision to Hanford at Eddie Chapa Field.

Both Madera teams will compete in the County/Metro Athletic Conference this season with the first of the three cross-town rival meetings set for April 5.
