After four years of battling in the County/Metro Athletic Conference, the Madera Coyote girls water polo team finally overtook the San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno Panthers.
“This team has beaten us every game for the last four years, including twice this season, and they are our biggest rivals,” head coach Erik Baymiller said. “We trained hard.”
Behind junior Hannah Ryan’s 13 goals, the Coyotes held off a late Panthers charge for a 19-16 victory Wednesday evening at the McAlister Swim Complex.
“We had some troubles defensively because San Joaquin Memorial has really strong, big girls that can play very well, but in the end we ruled the game with our speed and quickness,” Baymiller said...
