Coyote teams face Redwood

Three of the four Madera teams heading to the playoffs finished their league seasons and were awarded with a Central Section playoff seed, announced Saturday in Porterville.

The Liberty Hawks boys and girls basketball teams enjoyed their best North Sequoia League seasons and both ended up in third place. The Madera Coyote boys basketball team also had its best league season and also finished in third place. The Coyote girls team ended the league season in third place for the second year in a row.

The Madera Coyote boys basketball team finished third in the County/Metro Athletic Conference and completed its first sweeps over San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno, Sanger and Madera South. With a 6-4 CMAC record, its only blemishes are losses to Edison-Fresno and Bullard-Fresno, both top Div. I teams.

After finishing off the Madera South Stallions on Thursday for their second straight win over the cross-city rivals after seven straight losses, the Coyotes earned the No. 10 seed in the Div. II Central Section playoffs. They open today in Visalia at Redwood...
