The last time the Madera boys’ soccer team faced Sanger, the Coyotes were taken to overtime where they narrowly escaped with a 3-2 road win over a scrappy Apaches’ squad.
Combined with two timely goals and the play of Madera’s vaunted defense, the Coyotes (15-4-4) made sure the rematch would not go past regulation time Wednesday night in a 2-0 win over the Apaches in Memorial Stadium.
“The difference between this game and the last one was just the fact that our defense was a little more sound,” Coyote head coach Chris Baca said. “We gave up two goals the last time we played them but I felt that they had a couple of calls that helped them out.”
The Coyotes improved to a league-best 5-1-1 in County/ Metro Athletic Conference (CMAC) play and completed the season-sweep of the Apaches which included the overtime win at Sanger on Jan. 11...
