Led by the pitching of senior JoJo Contreras and a workmanlike defensive effort, the Madera baseball team advanced to the championship game of the Central Baseball Classic.

Contreras was masterful on the mound as he threw in all seven innings Thursday in the Coyotes’ 3-0 win over the Liberty Hawks on Mel Parker Field.

The Coyotes (6-1) will travel to Central-Fresno today to face the host-team Grizzlies in the title game at 3:15 p.m.

In the past two games, the Coyotes have only allowed one run after pitcher Anthony Castro went the distance and led Madera to a 2-1 win over the Fresno Warriors on Wednesday at home...
