County shut out by City all-stars at Chukchansi Park

FRESNO — The allure of playing in a Triple-A baseball stadium, playing a game they have played for a majority of their lives and the opportunity to wear their school’s jerseys one last time made the City/County All-Star baseball game memorable for seven Madera-area graduates Sunday at the Fresno Grizzlies’ Chukchansi Park, home of the San Francisco Giants’ Triple-A affiliate.

Madera’s Seth Bennett, Josh Wiles and Dustin Chambers, Madera South’s Aaron Vallez and Donovan Bertoncini and Liberty’s Tyler Winter and Blake Tasos represented the County squad and were in awe of the evening’s festivities, won by the City with three runs in the seventh inning.

“It’s special to be able to represent our team and everything we’ve been taught,” Bennett said. “It’s just a real cool experience.”

“It was awesome and exciting,” Winter said. “This is the first time I’ve done something like this. I made a nice double play and all that adrenaline is going through me.” ...
