Complete game lifts Coyotes to win

After the San Joaquin MemorialPanthers closed to within two, the Madera Coyote girls basketball team got hot from the field and went on a 25-6 run for a 60-45 County/Metro Athletic Conference victory.

The Coyotes went on a 6-0 run to open the second half, but Memorial closed to 33-31 with 2:34 left in the third quarter. The Coyotes then went on a run that gave them a 58-37 lead late in the fourth quarter of Wednesday night’s game.

“This was our best game of the year,” head coach Jason Smith said. “This was our most complete game. We played relaxed tonight. This is the team I saw at our scrimmage. They just went out and played basketball.

The Coyotes shot 68 percent (15-of-22) from the field in the second half, including 3-of-3 from 3-point range after shooting 31 percent (7-of- 22) in the first half...
