FRESNO — After the Madera South girls basketball team earned its first North Yosemite League win with a blowout victory, the players hoped that momentum would carry over to the next the game.

It didn’t as the Stallions (6- 14, 1-3 NYL) followed a 24- point beating of RooseveltFresno with a tough 37-30 loss Friday at the Fresno High Warriors.

“They just outplayed us tonight,” Madera South head coach Joe Thomas said. “We didn’t show up in the second quarter and they outscored us. Every other quarter was pretty equal.”

With less than two minutes left in the game, Madera South had a chance to cut the lead to one after trailing by as many as 10 points in the fourth quarter. But two missed Madera South free throws turned into five straight points for the Warriors as Fresno held on for the victory...
