Madera children and teenagers will have the opportunity to be trained by Major League Soccer coaches this weekend.
The free soccer clinics, hosted by District 4 Supervisor Max Rodriguez, the City of Madera Parks and Community Services Department and Madera Youth Soccer League Association, will feature instruction by coaches from the team Chivas USA.
The Carson-based professional soccer club — and only wholly Mexican-owned team in major professional sports in the U.S. — is the sister team to Mexican Soccer League’s Club Deportivo Guadalajara, popularly known as Chivas.
“Soccer is a beloved sport in cities across the globe and Madera is no exception,” said Rodriguez. “I see the soccer fields crowded with participants and spectators every weekend. This will be an amazing opportunity for our youth to learn from the pros.” ...
