Carr’s big day takes Bulldogs to victory

Highlighted by a prolific performance from junior quarterback Derek Carr, the Fresno State Bulldogs defeated San Diego State University 52-40 in the “Battle for the Old Oil Can.”

Carr’s 579 yards of total offense and 42 completions Saturday night at Bulldog Stadium broke both the Mountain West Conference and Fresno State all-time single-game records.

Carr finished the game completing 75 percent of his passes, for 536 yards, five touchdowns, two interceptions and added 43 yards rushing.

The previous Mountain West record for total offense of 548 yards was set in 2007 by quarterback Max Hall of Brigham Young University. The Dogs’ record, also 548, was set in 1987 by quarterback Dave Telford against the University of the Pacific...
