Fresno State head baseball coach Mike Batesole said before the weekend series against the University of Southern California that someone needed to step up to get things going in the right direction.

Batesole’s Bulldogs (3-7) responded with more than one someone stepping up as Fresno State took two of three games from perennial Pac-12 power USC.

  After dropping Friday’s opening game 9-1, getting shut down by USC ace Bobby Wheatley, the ‘Dogs did some soul searching and looked like a different team in the remaining two games.

“To these guys’ credit they didn’t like what happened Friday night,” Batesole said. “They made some nice adjustments, in the middle of a weekend, against a really good team. That’s tough to do.”...
