The Fresno State baseball team learned early Monday that the Bulldogs will head to play in the NCAA Palo Alto Regional starting Friday at 6 p.m. against the Stanford Cardinal on Klein Field at Sunken Diamond.

Fresno State (30-26) is making its 34th NCAA Tournament appearance with four trips to the College World Series, including the 2008 national championship.

“One thing to watch, remember when Fresno State won the whole thing a few years ago they were a four seed,” ESPN College Baseball Analyst Kyle Peterson said on the selection show Monday morning. “(Stanford pitcher Mark) Appel is 9-1 on the year and his only loss this year is to Fresno State. It’s a tough opener for Stanford.”
