Bulldogs’ BCS dream ended

After more than 1,300 yards of total offense, Friday’s Mountain West Conference match-up between rivals No. 16 Fresno State and San Jose State came down to about two feet.

Jarrod Lawson gained two yards and earned the first down for the Spartans and San Jose State won the rivalry game 62-52 in San Jose, the Valley Cup and enough wins for a bowl bid.

On the other hand, the Bulldogs must gather themselves to rebound for next Saturday’s Mountain West Championship game at Bulldog Stadium at 7 p.m. after dreams of a Bowl Championship Series bowl berth were shot down by the Spartans’ offense.

San Jose State quarterback David Fales had a career day shredding the Bulldogs’ defense for 547 yards with six touchdowns and just eight incompletions. He had three receivers with more than 140 yards receiving. Chandler Jones had eight catches for 146 yards and scored three touchdowns. Kyle Nunn had 10 catches for 160 yards with two touchdowns and Tyler Winston had 10 catches for 164 yards and a touchdown...
