The plan for the Madera Coyote softball team was to avoid getting beat by Bullard-Fresno’s Claire Stucker, who hit a go-ahead home run the last time the two teams met.
Stucker was walked twice and hit by a pitch Tuesday at Zimmerman Field.
Unfortunately, the Coyotes didn’t have the same plan against Bullard’s Laura Contreras, who hit a two-run double in the first inning and a grand slam in the second inning of a 7-1 victory. The win gave the Knights their second straight CMAC title after tying the Coyotes last season.
Madera fell to 7-2 in the CMAC and will finish second for the first time since entering the league three years ago. Madera will conclude the regular season Friday at Madera South with first pitch at 3:30 p.m...
