After a rugged performance in its previous game, the Madera girls soccer team came out motivated and gave the County/Metro Athletic Conference leader Bullard- Fresno all it could handle.
It would take two incredible second half goals Thursday night by the Knights (13-2-1, 4-0 CMAC) to hand the Coyotes (9-7-4, 2-2 CMAC) a 2-0 loss at Memorial Stadium.
Madera was coming off a 2-1 Tuesday loss at Edison- Fresno in which first-year Coyote head coach Garrett Perez felt his team’s playing was less than stellar before his players came out and challenged a Bullard squad favored to reach the Div. I championship.
“I would say that we got everything we wanted out of the Bullard game except for the result,” Perez said. “After the Edison game we were really displeased with the effort of the girls.We had no work ethic or intensity and lost to a teamthat we shouldn’t have (lost to). So our focus was to come out here today against a quality team and have that work ethic, intensity and fire. We really got that out of them today with the first half being 0-0.” ...
