Brogdon leads Hawks to playoff victory

When it’s one loss and you’re done, Liberty Hawks baseball head coach Terance Frazier went to his ace to lead his team to a 3-1 victory Wednesday over the Delano Tigers in the first round of the Central Section Div. IV playoffs.

Connor Brogdon tossed a complete-game five-hitter with 10 strikeouts while only throwing 84 pitches.

“I didn’t want to come into the playoffs and squeak by a team,” Frazier said. “We went with our best because you can’t go home with your best pitcher on the bench. Hopefully, we’ll play better next time. The outcome was great, but you can’t win the championship playing like that.”

The sixth seeded Hawks tried to small ball their way to manufacture runs, however, they popped up two bunts, one on a squeeze, and fouled another squeeze attempt...
