In the National Tournament of Champions, the Madera 14-under Bobby Sox All-Stars advanced to today’s semifinals game by dominating its first two games.
After claiming the District Championship earlier in the summer in Anaheim, host Madera got out to a fast start in each of its games and outscored its two opponents 27-0 in Saturday’s opening day of the TOC at Lions Town and Country Park’s softball complex.
“I’m very proud of them,” Madera manager Leticia Cuevas said. “Our game-plan for the day was to come in, get those two games out of the way and be ready for Monday. We wanted to be able to have that Sunday off and come in fresh for Monday’s game.”
Madera will play today at noon against Vacaville on Field 8 for the right to go to the championship game...
