10-under comeback bid falls short
For the second straight tournament, the Madera Bobby Sox 12-under All-Star team finished with a perfect record.
In the Bobby Sox Softball 30th annual Regional All-Star Tournament, Madera trounced Salinas, 18-5, to capture the title Sunday at Lions Town and Country Park as it prepared for the upcoming National Tournament of Champions in Vacaville on July 28.
After winning it all in the District Tournament in La Mirada on June 17, Madera returned to its home field and went 3-0 in the two-day double-elimination tournament.
“The girls were real excited to win the championship here in Madera in front of their home crowd,” Madera manager Megan Garza said. “Madera hasn’t hosted a tournament like this in years, so it was great for the girls to get to play in front of everyone. They all had a really strong tournament.” ...
