FRESNO— Liberty softball sophomore Darbi Duke is starting to build a reputation as a big-time hitter with the bases loaded.

Duke, the No. 8 batter in the Hawks’ line-up, hit a grand slam in Liberty’s 10-0 victory over Reedley in the first game Friday in the Edison Softball Tournament. She added a three-run triple in a 19-2 victory over Sunnyside-Fresno in the second game at Edison Fresno.

“I think she is comfortable there,” coach Bob Barber said. “She’s an incredibly strong girl. When her technique is right, she hits the ball a ton. We work on that in practice all the time.”
