It took a pair of freshman to hand the Bullard girls soccer team its first loss to a Central Section team in two years.
A rocket shot off the right leg of freshman Kimberly Gaona in the 30th minute of the second half gave the Madera Coyotes (11-9-1, 4-1, County/Metro Athletic Conference) a 2-1 lead and the defense stiffened to give thirdranked Bullard its first league loss in 38 matches. The Coyotes and Knights (6-3-2, 4-1) are tied atop the CMAC standings.
“This is the biggest win since I’ve been here,” fourth-year head coach Eli Liuba said.
