The Liberty Hawks baseball team was looking to slay its second straight County/Metro Athletic Conference team in the second week of the Central Baseball Classic on Tuesday at Liberty.

With ace Stetson Woods — who had scouts behind the backstop watching every pitch, — on the mound, the Hawks looked to be in good shape.

However, Woods was banged around in his two innings of work and three unearned runs helped a six-run inning and the Sanger Apaches defeated the Hawks 9-6.

Liberty, who defeated San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno on Saturday, committed four errors and didn’t mount a threat until the fifth inning...
