Madera South Stallion ace Donovan Bertoncini was cruising along until he made one bad pitch and the Hanford West Huskies left Eddie Chapa Field with a 3-1 victory Tuesday in the Central Baseball Classic.
Aaron Froley hit a 2-1 pitch over the left-centerfield fence for a solo home run to break a 1-1 seventh inning tie and the Huskies pushed over another run in the inning for the win.
Bertoncini suffered the loss, but allowed six hits, struck out seven and allowed just one earned run.
“Donovan did fantastic again,” head coach John Fernandez said. “He had another solid outing. He’s given us a chance to win every time, but we have to back him up offensively. We can play defense with anybody.”...
