Papa Murphy’s sent 12 batters to the plate and scored six runs to cruise to an 8-2 victory over McDonald’s Saturday in the Madera Little League City Championship on Saturday.

Juan Carlos Gonzales had the big hit for Madera American Little League champions Papa Murphy’s with a two-run home run in the second and pitched five innings of one-hit ball with 12 strikeouts for the win.

“Juan is a great pitcher,” said Bo Bertoncini, Papa Murphy’s manager. “He feels relaxed with a big lead. We felt pretty good after the first inning.”

Bertoncini, in his first city championship game in 12 years of managing, got the help of seven hits and took advantage of three walks and three errors in the first inning...
