FRESNO— Papa Murphy’s Caleb Bertoncini picked a perfect time to hit his first home run of the season.

Bertoncini’s two-run home run gave the Madera American Little League and City champions a 10-9 comefrom-behind victory Thursday against the Sunnyside –Fresno Little League champions, the Diamondbacks in the first game of the District 10 Tournament of Champions in Fresno.

“I just wanted to go up there and hit the ball hard,” Bertoncini said. “He hung a curveball and we get to fight another day.”

“I just wanted him to hit something in the gap,” manager Bo Bertoncini said. “We had our fastest runner in front of him and our No. 4 and 5 batters behind him so we were set up, but he ended it. I think his brother (Donovan) was happier than all of us.” ...
