FRESNO — Fresh off a District 2 championship, the Madera 15-year-old Babe Ruth All-Stars will compete in today’s Central California State Tournament at Bullard-Fresno High School.
Madera cemented its place in the state tournament after sweeping the district competition last week with two wins at Edison-Fresno High School, and opens bracket play against District 8 winner Corcoran today at 10 a.m.
“From what I hear, I think every team there is going to be solid because they’re there for a reason,” Madera manager Mike Hall said. “It’s going to be eight of the best teams in the state, and so I expect good competition and a battle all the way.”
Madera rolled through its opponents in district play as it defeated Liberty Babe Ruth from the Madera Ranchos 11-0 on July 1 and beat Edison 10-0 on July 3 to capture the tournament title...
