Organizers of a track and field competition for children celebrated its silver anniversary and honored late Madera City Councilman and longtime supporter Sam Armentrout.
Sixty children between ages 7 and 14 ran, jumped and threw in the Jesse Owens Games at Martin Luther King, Jr. Middle School. Parents, residents and volunteers cheered the athletes on and some took photos from the sidelines.
Madera resident Bedella Mitchell watched as games director Donald Holley encouraged participants from the starting line on the track.
