Sheriff deputy nabs wanted man

While nearly colliding with a vehicle that failed to stop at stop sign in the area of Avenue 17 and Golden State Boulevard, Madera County Sheriff’s Deputy Johnathan Rodriguez conducted a stop of the vehicle.

Rodriguez found the drive of the red full-size Dodge pickup truck to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance and initially provided a false name to Deputy Rodriguez on Tuesday.

The driver was ultimately confirmed to be 40-year-old Juan Acosta of Earliment, with multiple warrants out of Tulare County. During a search of the pickup, one ounce of methamphetamine was recovered.

Acosta was arrested and booked into the Madera County County Jail for multiple misdemeanor charges including driving under the influence, possession of controlled substance, and false identification to peace officer, as well as his out-of-county warrants.
