Madera Fairgrounds to host drive thru

For The Madera Tribune

Madera District Fair CEO Tom Mitchell is preparing for the Hometown Christmas Drive-thru event at the fairgrounds.

The Madera Fairgrounds is under preparations for a community Hometown Christmas Drive Thru with the approval and local community support.

Gates open Dec. 10-12 from 5-9 p.m. and it will feature lights, sights and treats, in a socially safe, community focused Christmas experience.

The Drive Thru will feature the Madera Christmas Light Parade “reimagined” under the organization of the Madera Evening Lions Club. All “floats” and decorated spaces created by local businesses and organizations will be stationary while guests will drive past to observe the lights and sights, a creative solution that will allow people to share Christmas cheer while meeting CDC and State COVID guidelines.

Interested businesses or organizations interested should contact Madera Evening Lions Club President, Abel Perez at 706-1241, email maderaeveninglionsevent@gmail.com or visit maderafair.com/christmas where an easy online form is ready for entries.

A nativity scene provided by the Madera Ministerial Association will be shown as well as local treats from tamales to corn dogs, hot cocoa, churros and more.

Tickets may be purchased online for $5 per car. Two ticketed time slots are available each night for vehicle passes, 5-7 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. on each of the scheduled days — Dec. 10-12. All guests will remain in their vehicle while touring Hometown Christmas. Treat spots will take orders from your vehicle and serve up goodies to go.
