Felony arrest made in Coarsegold

For The Madera Tribune

Madera County Sheriff Deputies detain Jon Cabibi on several felony charges after he was found trespassing in a tent on private property Saturday.

Madera County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Jassiem Wills and Sergeant Ryan Videgain were dispatched to the area of Persons Loop South and Road 416 in Coarsegold to respond to a trespassing call.

Upon arrival Saturday, the property owner advised deputies of subjects squatting on his land and living inside of a tent trailer. Deputies located two adult subjects on the property, later identified as Jon Cabibi and Michelle Klein of Coarsegold.

During the course of their investigation, the MCSO officers discovered a stolen Harley Davidson motorcycle and a stolen Honda dirt bike in Cabibi’s possession. Deputies also located over a quarter of a pound of methamphetamine, along with packaging material, and a digital scale.

Cabibi, 46, was arrested and booked into the Madera County Jail on several felony charges including possession of narcotics with the intent to sell and possession of a stolen vehicle.

“Thanks to the thoroughness of Deputy Wills’ and Sergeant Videgain’s investigation, what could have been a simple order to vacate resulted in the recovery of stolen property and removal of drugs off of the streets of our community,” said MCSO Sheriff Tyson Pogue. “I applaud their attention to detail and thank them for a job well done.”
