Pierce appointed Rotary District 5220 Governor

Rotary District Governor Jim Pierce addresses the Rotary Club of Mariposa Yosemite during his first week of office.
Jim Pierce of Madera has begun his term as Rotary District 5220 governor. Pierce is accountable for 53 Rotary clubs located in the Central Valley, from Galt to Madera, and from the I-5 corridor to Yosemite. His duties are to provide leadership and supervision of the district clubs focusing on important Rotary issues, recognizing contributions and motivating clubs.
Several Madera Rotarians have served as District 5220 governors.
These include the late Jerry Barden, Richard Wyatt and Gary Giersch, as well as Sunrise Rotarians J. Gordon Kennedy and Bob Bitter.
Preparation for the office of district governor is a five-year process as are the steps necessary to become a Rotary Club President, said Pierce.
Pierce joined Madera Rotary in 2008 after having been a Rotarian since 1987 in clubs throughout the United States.
Additionally, he is responsible for three Rotaract clubs for men and women ages 18 to 30 and 62 Interact clubs for high school age students.
In addition, Pierce served as club president for the 2012-2013 term. Madera Rotary meets at noon on Tuesdays at the Madera Municipal Golf Course, 23200 Avenue 17, Madera.
He has been retired from his careers as a retail executive and lobbyist for small businesses for about 10 years he said.
He and his wife reared 11 children both their own biological offspring and adopted children. The children are all grown and gone now. His wife, Lori, is a teacher who is spending her summer traveling with family visiting grandchildren, Jim said.
Rotary’s 100-year plus record of accomplishment of professionals join together to use their skills and passions to make a difference in their communities is what fosters pride in Rotarians worldwide.
It is the application of the Four-Way Test that makes Rotary members the fine upstanding community members. Sharing the mantra Pierce said: Is it the truth, is it fair to all concerned, will it build goodwill and better friendships, will it be beneficial to all concerned.
