Madera American loses twice in tourney

Madera American meets in between innings during a game over the weekend.

 

After a split to open the 10-12-year-old District 10 All-Star Tournament, Madera American lost its second game to River Park and was eliminated.

Madera American suffered a 9-3 loss Monday to River Park and went to the consolation bracket where they defeated Sierra Mountain 11-0 on Tuesday.

Madera American battled Sunnyside on Wednesday in its final game of the tournament.

River Park scored four runs in the first and two more in the second on Monday and never looked back.

They added three more in the third and held on for the six-run victory.

Madera American scored two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth, but the rally wasn’t enough.

On Tuesday, Madera American scored three runs in the first and second innings before adding a run in the third and four more in the fourth for the mercy-rule victory.

Madera American pitching held Sierra Mountain to just two hits.

David Moles scored two runs with a single. Jeremiah Montes added another run. Amani Sua scored a run and Nate Gray scored two more.

Brenden Gustafson and Joban Hans scored two runs, with Hans hitting a triple to drive in Gustafson. Alexander Lopez hit a single and Sebastian Guerrero added a triple. Both scored a run.

Alex Cortez led the offense with three hits, including a double and a run scored.
