Reyna takes over as president of local community colleges

Angel Reyna took over Monday as president of both Madera and Oakhurst Community College Centers.

 

A new chapter began Monday at Madera and Oakhurst Community College Centers when Angel Reyna took over as president of both campuses.

Reyna comes to Madera from Renton Technical College in Renton, Washington, where he was vice president of instruction since December 2015. Prior to that, he served as dean of workforce education at Walla Walla Community College and director for workforce education, interim industry coordinator, and ESL adjunct instructor at Yakima Valley Community College.

Those schools are also in Washington State.

Mr. Reyna also has had career in local politics, having served as mayor of the City of Mabton, Washington, from 2010-2013 and a city council member there from 2006-2009. He also worked as a seasonal migrant farm worker in the state of Washington for 13 years.

Mr. Reyna is currently earning his doctorate in organizational leadership (ABD) at Northeastern University-Seattle. He earned his M.A. in educational administration and B.A. in history and education from Washington State University.
