Madera South senior Mealeah Galvan hits a single during the Stallions’ 11-1 victory over the San Joaquin Memorial Panthers on Senior Night on Tuesday.

The Madera South Stallions softball team honored its six graduating seniors with an 11-1 victory over the San Joaquin Memorial-Fresno Panthers in a rare County/Metro Athletic Conference spring break game.

The Stallions scored in every inning except the second to record Tuesday’s mercy-rule victory over the Panthers. Fittingly, senior Aleecia Rosel ended the game with a single to score fellow senior Mealeah Galvan, who drove in two runs with a triple, to end game.

In addition to Rosel and Galvan, the Stallions honored Margarita Rascon, Erica Valdez, Viviana Porras and four-year starter at shortstop Savaanah Garcia.

Taylor Valerio led the Stallions with four singles and scored three runs. Garcia, Porras and Galvan each had two hits and Rosel had three.

Valdez picked up the victory in the circle, tossing a complete game. She scattered six hits and struck out five. She walked three, including two to help the Panthers score their only run.

Garcia got the scoring started in the first game, leading off with a single to right. She stole second and went to third on a wild pitch to Porras. After Porras walked, a wild pitch scored Garcia while Porras advanced to second.

Another wild pitch advanced Porras to third. After a strikeout, Valerio singled to left field to drive in Porras.

Valerio stole second and then scored on a single by Galvan. Rosel kept the rally going with a bunt single, but a groundout ended the inning with a 3-0 lead.

Madera South added to its lead in the third. Valerio led off the inning with a single up the middle and advanced to second on an error. Two batters later, Rosel singled to drive in Valerio.

In the third, the Stallions added two more runs. With one out, Garcia drew a walk. Porras reached on bunt single, but Elena Garcia forced out Savaanah Garcia at third.

Valerio followed with a single to left field. Valdez lifted a fly ball to left field that was dropped for an error while Porras and Elena Garcia scored.

The Panthers pushed over a run in the fifth inning while a walk, single and another walk loaded the bases. A single to right drove in the Panthers’ run.

Rosel started a run-scoring rally in the fifth with a single. She went to second on a wild pitch and to third on a groundout by Monique Martinez. After the next batter struck out, Savaanah Garcia singled in Rosel.

Garcia stole second and third and scored on a bunt single by Porras. Elena Garcia reached on an error and Porras advanced to third on the play, but Garcia was thrown out trying for second.

Valerio led off the sixth inning with a single up the middle for her fourth hit of the game. Valdez drew a walk to put two runners on.

Galvan then hit a drive to right-centerfield for a triple while Valerio and Valdez scored. On the next pitch, Rosel singled up the middle and Galvan scored Madera South’s 11th run of the game for the mercy-rule victory.
