Opinion: Mueller report saddens Democrats

March 27, 2019

The outcome of the Robert Mueller investigation into whether President Trump or any of his lieutenants colluded with Russians to fix the 2016 presidential election was a terrible disappointment to many Democrats and left-leaning newscasters and columnists.

Mueller said there was no evidence the president had done what he was accused of doing, but he also said there was no evidence he hadn’t done it, either. Maybe in FBI school they didn’t tell him about the difficulty of proving a negative.

The Dems hoped that Mueller would carry their mud buckets for them into the 2020 election, but that isn’t likely to be the case now.

It also isn’t likely to be the case that CNN and other liberal tee vee news channels will prove to have demonstrated electronic prescience. Their predictions that Trump would be found guilty are turning out to be big fat lies that will have to be covered up by more big fat lies.

Don Lemon has turned out to be a lemon. Bill Press, former head of the California Democratic Party, is a wild-eyed liberal who will do and say anything to insult Trump, or any other Republican. He has found at least a temporary home on CNN. Carl Bernstein has made a career out of insulting Republican presidents and presidential appointees. Van Jones is an attorney who doesn’t practice law, but makes a living from CNN insulting Trump and his administration.

Of course, there are many decent and fair journalists who work for CNN, but you don’t see much of them on prime time, and hardly ever covering a political story.

The Democrats in the House of Representatives are insisting that they get a chance to study the whole Mueller report, but it’s questionable whether they would take the time to read it, or be able to understand it if they did read it.

They were hoping Mueller would do their work for them, then give them the Cliff Notes version.

Meanwhile, the biggest glacier in Greenland appears to be expanding again after a few years of shrinking. Jakobshavn (YA-cob-shawv-en) glacier, around 2012, was retreating about 1.8 miles (3 kilometers) and thinning nearly 130 feet (almost 40 meters) annually. But it started growing again at about the same rate in the past two years, according to a study in Monday’s Nature Geoscience. Study authors and outside scientists think this expansion is temporary.

They have been hoping the glacier would all melt, and thus prove the dangers of global warming, but if you ever have been up next to a glacier, you probably are aware that they make bad neighbors. They are cold, dirty and dangerous. Maybe it’s a good thing the glacier was melting, and it may not be such a good thing for science that they seem to be expanding again.

The glaciation of Europe was terrible while it was taking place. Ask some cave dwellers if you don’t believe me.
