Hawks struggle in loss

The Liberty-Madera Ranchos Hawks baseball team was unable to shake out of its funk at the plate, in the field and on the pitching mound in a 13-1 loss to the Hoover-Fresno Patriots in a non-conference matchup.

Although the Hawks scored first behind a Bradley Moon RBI hit in the bottom of the second inning, they couldn’t keep that momentum going after only collecting two hits. Their struggles at the plate, combined with poor fielding, created a day of frustration for the Hawks.

The visitors, on the other hand, found a chance to do damage in the in the third and fourth inning, scoring 11 runs and effectively taking the game.

Hoover’s Alec Guerrero powered the Patriots with three RBI’s, five innings pitched and three strikeouts in the win.

The Patriots scored seven runs in the fourth, including a two-run double from Guerrero.

The Patriots scored seven runs in the inning, while the Hawks made multiple pitching changes in order to keep the game close. Pitchers came in, but they all found the same amount of success.

Moon, Stefan Sidur and Nathanael Samarin all took a chance on the mound, but neither of the trio could find the strike zone consistently walking seven batters.

Moon allowed five earned runs and three walks, Sidur allowed three runs and gave up four walks and Samarin allowed a single earned run, but five total runs came across while he was on the mound.
