Unsung Heroes (vol.3)

The Madera Tribune is not just a newspaper or a place to work. It is a small business in the community of Madera, and it is made up of folks just like you and me. These people work together almost like a family. In fact, you will often hear me call them a family. Like brothers and sisters, we sometimes have differing opinions and we each have our own ways of handling things. Once in a while there may be a disagreement, but we are pretty protective of our “siblings” outside the walls of the Tribune. We are a group of folks who love the Tribune and each other.

The person I would like to introduce to you today is one of the two faces you would see if you walked through the front door of The Madera Tribune. Leslie Trevino works at the front desk. She is the person who handles most of the circulation tasks. If you were to call the office about your subscription, Leslie would be the person you want to contact.

Leslie came to work at the Tribune in May of 2018. At first, she was a bit timid, and seemed unsure that she could handle the work. Very soon afterward, Leslie became the best circulation person we could ever have. She is definitely “a keeper.” Leslie gets along well with both the staff and with customers. She is courteous, helpful, and friendly, and she eagerly takes on new tasks with confidence and skill. Whenever there is something new to learn, Leslie is ready to be the one to do it. Besides taking care of the subscriptions, she helps input the ads for the sales people; she takes care of the obituaries, and classified ads, and she helps the customers with their orders and payments. When there is an issue with circulation, for whatever reason, she is quick to resolve the problem. She cares about the customers and wants to take care of them.

You may have met Leslie at our booth at the Madera District Fair. Even before she officially worked at the Tribune, she was a part of our team, and for two years, she has helped with our booth.

This is another Unsung Hero (Heroine) within the walls of The Madera Tribune. We are all thankful that Leslie came to work at the Tribune. She has a smile on her face every day, and we all enjoy working with her.
