B-K Lighting board adds Sam Geil
B-K Lighting’s 2016 launch of the Lite Star Employee Stock Ownership Plan necessitated the expansion of the board of directors to provide diversity in thought and knowledge in order to continue the growth plans ahead. The board is pleased to welcome Sam Geil as its fourth of five members.
Nathan Sloan, President and CEO of B-K Lighting and TEKA Illumination, expressed his gratitude for Sam’s willingness to serve in this capacity, “We are thrilled to add Sam to our Board of Directors, and eagerly anticipate the pivotal role he will play in the future of our growing companies.” Sam brings over 30 years of senior management experience primarily in the manufacturing and service industries. His strengths lie in establishing a clear, inspirational vision, garnering collaboration and fostering a results-driven culture, as a result of his process-driven leadership style.
Sam currently heads up Geil Consulting, a California-based management and leadership consulting firm specializing in enterprise development. Prior to that, he served as president and chairman of the board of Geil Enterprises Inc., a Fresno-based industrial services company, which moved to an ESOP during his tenure there.
His background also includes human resources and executive recruiting roles at Xerox Corp. (Shugart Associates), and Data General Corp., where he led a successful turnaround within a one-year period. He moved to Grundfos Corp., established the HR function for the U.S. division of the company, then joined the international human resources team, expanding operations in North, Central and South America. Sam’s scope of responsibility expanded to sales, operations, quality and facilities, and he stepped into the role of vice president of Grundfos North and South America. One of his major initiatives was moving the North American headquarters from Fresno to Kansas City, Kansas, resulting in lower operating costs, improved customer service and additional expansion.
Sam earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from San Jose State University, attended the University of Southern California (Executive Leadership Program) and the Kellogg School of Business (Board Governance Program). He has earned certifications in Green Build, Society of Human Resource Professionals (PHR) and Predictive Index.
