College district has a new vice chancellor

Cheryl Sullivan, State Center Community College Districtvice chancellor, finance and administration.


State Center Community College District (SCCCD) Board of Trustees has approved Cheryl Sullivan as the vice chancellor, finance and administration.


Sullivan will begin her new role on Wedenesday. She currently serves as Fresno City College’s vice president of administrative services and has begun transitioning into her new role.


During her time as the vice president, Cheryl was asked to serve as the interim president while the District conducted a search to fill that position permanently.


Working for the District for the past twenty years, Sullivan has served in a variety of roles. She has been the accounting manager for the district office, interim vice president of administrative services for Reedley College, accounting supervisor for Fresno City College and an accounting staff member.


Sullivan is replacing Edwin Eng who was set to retire on Tuesday after serving the district for 23 years.


Chancellor Dr. Paul Parnell stated, “I am looking forward to Ms. Sullivan’s leadership and wish Ed Eng much happiness in his retirement. Cheryl brings with her a wealth of knowledge about the District, fiscal responsibility, and community college budget management best practices. I am confident that she is up to the task of leading this District in a time of great fiscal change in higher education.”


Board President Bobby Kahn said, “Cheryl has been a high quality employee of State Center Community College District for many years and has truly earned this appointment. She has continued to demonstrate her dedication and skill at a variety of positions and I feel fortunate that she is part of the SCCCD team.”


“I am excited and very humbled to take on this very important role within State Center Community College District,” said Sullivan. “SCCCD plays a key role in supporting and developing the next generation of the Central Valley’s skilled workforce and community leaders. I am extremely proud to be a part of a collaborative team who cares about the future of all of our students and works to provide them a pathway to success.”


Sullivan earned an associate of arts degree in liberal arts from Fresno City College, a bachelor of science degree in business administration, accountancy and her master of science degree in accountancy from California State University, Fresno.


Enrollment is now open for the fall semester, which begins Monday, August 13. The District will host an Extreme Registration event on Friday, from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There are five locations for Extreme Registration: Fresno City College Library, Reedley College Student Center, Clovis Community College Academic Center Bldg. 2 (AC2) Room 276, Madera Community College Center TM-11, and the Oakhurst Community College Center Main Office.
