Kenneth William Butler Jr. “Buzzy” May 26, 1939-June 19, 2018


Ken was born in Madera, CA to Lois and Kenneth Butler MD. He graduated from Madera High School in 1957. He attended St John’s College in Annapolis, MD, UC Berkeley, and CSUF earning his Bachelor’s degree in English.

Having a passion for poetry, Ken delighted in the significance of words well spoken. His unique flavor of humor and artistry was evident in his many writings and sketches.

He was a devoted and deliberate seeker of spiritual truth and wellness. In his quest for harmony within mind, body, and spirit, Ken fully embraced the practice of yoga. For decades he shared his passion and expertise, inspiring others as both student and teacher. He had a heart for serving those in need and found great meaning in his role as a social worker and his position as a nurse’s assistant.

Ken was appointed officer of the Madera Behavioral Health Board and volunteered at the Holy Family Table for many years.

Ken was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Carol Simi. He is survived by his twin sister, Kay Armijo, five nieces, and one nephew.

His warm expression, childlike spirit and gentle nature will be greatly missed.

A recitation of the Rosary will take place on July 16, 2018 at 12:30 pm followed by a Memorial Mass at 1 pm at St. Joachim Catholic Church, 401 W. 5th Street, Madera, CA.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joachim Catholic Church, St. John’s College in Annapolis MD, Doctors without Borders, or the Fresno Yoga Center.
