State plans, decisions cause confusion

The Madera Tribune received the following comments online about articles and local happenings. Some cities declare ‘independence’

With the reading of their own version of a Declaration of Independence, founders of the state of New California took the first steps to what they hope will eventually lead to statehood, according to CBS News.

“Ana N Jacob” wrote, “Eddie Blanton what this about bro can u give me a better understanding?”

“Eddie Blanton” replied, “This doesn’t mean anything. Some folks with no actual power wrote a declaration of independence for a large region of California. They don’t have the authority to do so, so it means nothing.”

“Ana N Jacob” responded, “Ok I was like dam what the he’ll are people doing.” Medication causes hallucinations in 6-year-old

A 6-year-old Texas girl had nervous system problems after taking a common flu medicine. Her parents say she had hallucinations and possibly tried to harm herself after using Tamiflu.

“Ticia Martinez” wrote, “Ivie Serrano they prescribed this to Leia good thing I didn’t give it to her she kicked that flu’s ass.”

“Ivie Serrano” replied, “Throw it away.”

“Martinez” replied, “I already did the next day. They said give it to her for five days to reduce it from 5 to 7 days and it’ll cut it down to 2 days. Well basic math lol, I was like that’s dumb so I didn’t give it to her n she was good the next night.” Rants and raves

Rant — The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved PG&E’s request to retire the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant in San Luis Obispo County by 2025. “Phillip Pistoresi” wrote, “Do the consumers have to pay this in addition to the “Nuclear Decommissioning Fee” that we pay with every bill?”

Rave — The Friends of Madera Animal Shelter recently shared photos of several dogs they had available for fostership. “Lisa Cosentino” wrote, “Geoff, looks like your kinda pup….”

Rant — An apparently abandoned female poodle was found wandering with a pomeranian mix dog near Oregon Avenue on Tuesday afternoon, and authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating her owners. “Sandra Trejo-Lacebal” wrote, “Who do I contact?” (Editor’s note: Anyone with information on the possible owner of the poodle is asked to call Madera County Animal Control at 675-7891.)

Rave — The Madera District Fair recently announced their recognition by WFA Service Members at the Western Fairs Association convention #gowest as a 2017 Gold Star winning fair. “Jim Curry” wrote, “Good job, congratulations!!”

Rant — Eighty-four-year-old Dianne Feinstein is seeking her 5th full term in the U.S Senate this year representing California and if the election were held now, she would have no problem taking the top spot and moving on to the General Election, according to KFSN News. “Jason Remner” wrote, “Just go away.”

Rant — Tribune columnist Jim Glynn recently wrote an editorial about the new laws in effect for the state of California. “Kym Smith Salter” wrote, “The state will now charge a fee to people who want to refinance a mortgage or make certain other real estate transactions. The $75 fee will be spent on providing low-cost housing to people in the state. At least that is the announced intention. You have got to be kidding me...It’s expensive enough with points and all....so now if we make any transaction we will pay 75.00 #Shithole Democrats!!!”

Rave — Madera Unified School District released photos from their Martin Luther King, Jr., Day celebration, thanking everyone show participated in the event. “JanineRay Mariani” wrote, “I see her. My beautiful granddaughter.”

Rant — U.S. President Donald Trump recently made remarks about the state of other nations in the world, referring to some as “shithole” countries. “Peter Openshaw” wrote, “Fox news or the Madera Tribune has no comment on our Presidents racial comments November 2018 is not too far away let him continue.”

Rant — The California High-Speed Rail Authority recently shared photos of the on-going construction for the high-speed rail project along the Avenue 7 overpass in southeastern Madera County. “Cindy Chidlaw Diaz” wrote, “Waste of money.”
