Madera welcomes baby new year

Baby 2018, Belen Fernandez of Madera, made her debut at 4:09 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Baby Belen weighed in at 8 pounds, and is 19 inches long, said her father.

Dr. Charles Ugwu-Oju delivered the baby.

The daughter of Juana Olivera and Jose Luis Fernandez joins a blended family with two older brothers and three sisters. Jose works at Rodriguez Insulation in Fresno.

Her paternal grandparents are Maragrita and Jose Fernandez of Madera. Her maternal grandparents are Josefina Della Cruz and Gerardol Olivera of Mexico.

An assortment of gifts for the new baby were donated by the Madera Community Hospital Foundation, the staff of labor and delivery, MCH Gift Shop, MCH League of Volunteers and a year’s subscription to The Madera Tribune.
