Seventy physicians, guest speakers and two nurses learned about new information on heart mechanisms and management at the 37th annual Central Valley Cardiology Symposium on Saturday.

Dr. Ranjit Rajpal, assistant clinical professor of medicine for UCSF-Fresno, founded the symposium in 1980 to remedy a lack of continuing education for heart specialists in the area. Attendees at Saturday’s conference ranged from Modesto to Bakersfield.

The Fresno Madera Medical Society hosted the symposium at the Madera County Office of Education conference center.
