OAKHURST — Oakhurst Community College Center will host a community feedback forum for residents interested in learning more about and providing feedback to the Oakhurst Site Selection Study.

The study, which narrowed 10 proposed sites down to four, can be viewed online at www.scccd.edu. It concluded that the existing center’s site would be the preferred option, because “it is served by existing utilities, transit and street access. It has high visibility to the community and is closest to the center of town with good terrain. It also has the added benefit of” being near a park.

The criteria for the sites was based on student surveys, community input, and the consensus of the SCCCD Site Selection Working Group. The Oakhurst Site Selection Study itself was performed by Odell Planning & Research, a consultant hired by the State Center Community College District (SCCCD) in February.

The community feedback forum will be 6-7:30 p.m. Sept. 21 at the Oakhurst Community Center, 39800 Road 425B in Oakhurst. For proper planning, college officials ask attendees to RSVP by Sept. 20
to 675-4874.

Those who can’t attend can offer feedback at http://bit.ly/OCCCSiteSelection. Participants are asked to complete the survey only after viewing the Site Selection Study.

In June 2016, voters approved Measure C, a $485 million capital improvement bond by SCCCD. Part of the bond proceeds are slated to acquire a site and permanent facilities for the Oakhurst Community College Center.
