FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Tyler White hit a grand slam in the fifth inning, leading the Fresno Grizzlies to a 6-3 win over the Tacoma Rainiers on Sunday.
The grand slam by White scored Reid Brignac, Tony Kemp, and Carlos Correa to give the Grizzlies a 5-2 lead.
The Grizzlies tacked on another run in the sixth when Garrett Stubbs scored on a double play.
Fresno right-hander Trent Thornton (7-4) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on 10 hits over six innings. Opposing starter Sam Gaviglio (3-6) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after a rough outing in which he allowed five runs and five hits over 4 2/3 innings. Brendan McCurry retired the side in order for his fifth save of the season.
For the Rainiers, Daniel Vogelbach doubled and singled twice. Zach Shank doubled and singled, driving home two runs.
Fresno improved to 12-4 against Tacoma this season.
