Nephew sentenced as ex-deputy Fresno police chief fights conviction

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — A nephew of Fresno's former deputy police chief was sentenced to 18 months in prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute marijuana with his uncle.

The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/2vAdARQ ) Denny Foster, the nephew of Keith Foster, was sentenced Monday, as his plea agreement says he and Keith Foster purchased marijuana with the intent to sell it and make money.

A federal jury in May found Keith Foster guilty of two felony charges — conspiring to distribute heroin and marijuana. Jurors hung on six other charges. Keith Foster is free while his lawyer files motions to overturn his conviction. His sentencing is pending.
