FRESNO, Calif. (AP) -- Rafael Ortega had three hits and scored two runs as the El Paso Chihuahuas defeated the Fresno Grizzlies 5-3 on Wednesday.
El Paso went up 4-0 in the second after Chase d'Arnaud hit a two-run double.
After Fresno scored a run in the second on a home run by Jack Mayfield, the Grizzlies cut into the deficit in the sixth inning when Tony Kemp hit a solo home run.
The Chihuahuas tacked on another run in the seventh when Christian Villanueva hit an RBI double, driving in d'Arnaud.
Fresno saw its comeback attempt come up short after A.J. Reed hit a solo home run in the ninth inning to cut the El Paso lead to 5-3.
El Paso left-hander Dillon Overton (4-5) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on three hits over six innings. Opposing starter Dean Deetz (3-4) took the loss in the Pacific Coast League game after allowing four runs and four hits over two innings. Cory Mazzoni recorded his first save of the season.
