Concert pianist and recording artist John Nilsen will perform at a free concert Aug. 18 in Madera.

Pianist John Nilsen will play a return performance at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Madera United Methodist Church, 500 Sunset Ave.

He last appeared at Madera United Methodist two years ago to a nearly packed house.

Nilsen is a pianist, guitarist, vocalist and songwriter, and a Pacific Northwest performance and recording artist.

Magic Wing, the record label Nilsen founded 30 years ago, has a catalogue of 19 titles, all distributed internationally.

His record sales exceed a million copies.

Over the past 35 years, Nilsen has averaged 225 shows a year, both as a soloist and with his two bands, Swimfish and the John Nilsen Trio.

He has performed in every state and in countries overseas.

The concert will be free, but a love offering will be taken. Copies of some of Nilsen’s recordings will be on sale after the concert.
