2 Valley women, 2 children dead after head-on collision near Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — California authorities say two women and two children are dead after a head-on collision.


California Highway Patrol responded to a head-on collision that occurred east of Fresno on Saturday.


Officials say a 28-year-old female driver with residences in Auberry and Sanger had been travelling with another woman and three children between the ages of 1 and 5 before the crash. The other driver involved was identified as 25-year-old Francisco Cordero of Sanger.


According the report, the two cars collided as they approached an intersection.


Cordero and one 5-year-old suffered major injuries and were taken to a hospital.


Officials say the female driver and the woman were not wearing seat belts. The other two children were not properly restrained.


The cause of the crash is under investigation.
